S!NERGY Asia Pacific 2

The International Association of Youth and Students for Peace – Asia Pacific 2 hosted the S!NERGY Competition on January 29, 2022, under the theme, “𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭,” in celebration of the United Nation’s International Day of Education.

The purpose was to strengthen young professionals in showcasing their ability to impact change in the world and society through their peace projects. The necessity for youth education and enhancing their potential to effect change is a duty to prepare the path for a better future; given the numerous rising causes that have contributed to increased human struggle and environmental challenges.

Ms Vaetoeifaga Apelu, Samoa’s mental health advocate, championed the event. She overcame six contestants from Southeast Asia and Oceania. She will receive a certificate and $700 to support her project’s funding. Mr Miguel Manipon from the Philippines, took the second place, followed by Mr Simon Teo from Malaysia.

Towards the end of the program, the Peace Maker Award and the Youth Heroes Award were presented. These prizes are granted to youth and students who have persistently worked on projects that contribute significantly to peace. The talents of IAYSP members were evident in their outstanding performances and collaboration with the other IAYSP chapters in the region. The online event was streamed worldwide on IAYSP AP (Asia Pacific) 2 Facebook Live.
