Peace Youth Rally #Congo
On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the Peace Students Rally under the theme, “Peace Begins with Me – The Role of Youth in Promoting a Culture of Peace and Pure Love,” was held in Kenge City; the capital of Kwango, a town about two hundred fifty kilometres to the east of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The rally was constituted to encourage young students to cultivate peace and pure love at school, where young people are much more exposed to vices. Through this rally, we also launched the YSP branch of Kwango Province and created a provincial committee; only three weeks after the launch of YSP branch of Kongo Central Province.
The activity was attended by different politico-administrative and school authorities, including the Provincial Minister of Education who represented the Executive Secretary of the Provincial Governor; the representative of the city Mayor, and the Director of Education of primary and secondary schools representing the Provincial Inspector of Education. One thousand three hundred students from public schools took part in the event.
The inauguration address was given by Mr. Kippum Matumona, the National Chairman of Pure Love Committee. A presentation on Peace and Pure Love was then endowed by Mr. Merveil Saasita, the President of Youth and Students for Peace DRC. The YSP Provincial Committee of Kwango Province was then installed and a resolution signed thereafter. In conclusion, words of thanks were given by the Secretary of the Governor and family photos taken.
