Learning about the International Day of Human Fraternity & the Day of Women and Girls in Science #Costa Rica

The members of IAYSP wanted to celebrate the International Day of Human Fraternity and the Day of Women and Girls in Science. Through this event, the participants were able to broaden their understandings regarding these two topics and different women that have pioneered science. Even though the official celebratory dates were held on different days to the event that was held on February 26, participants and organisers applied themselves with the same motivation as if they were celebrating on the official date.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science takes place on February 11. This day is celebrated to highlight the need for complete and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. On the International Day of Human Fraternity, celebrated on February 4, people reflect on the importance of cultural and religious understanding and mutual respect. This day came about as one of the purposes of the United Nations is to achieve international cooperation in solving international problems; including by promoting and encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all without distinction as to race, sex, language, or religion.
