Karate Congress (Uruguay)
On Saturday, June 29, the 1st Intercollegiate Karate Congress was held at French School, one of the most prestigious schools in the country. The event brought 100 people together for an open demonstration of Karate. Different martial arts forms were demonstrated.
There was a IAYSP table staffed by Japanese volunteers. They taught origami to children and helped Uruguayans to write their names in Japanese. The volunteers from Japan wore Kimonos, the traditional clothes of women in Japan. YSP volunteers stood out in the event. They were the center of attraction for children, youths and adults.
The event was successful because of the hard work and love of the Uruguayan society. YSP promised to sustain good relationships with the people and to organize more activities.
