Karate Congress #Uruguay
On Saturday, June 29, the First Intercollegiate Karate Congress was held at French School, one of the most prestigious schools in the country. The event brought one hundred people together for an open karate demonstration. Different martial arts forms were demonstrated as well.
Apart from martial arts, IAYSP staff were represented by Japanese volunteers who taught origami to children and helped Uruguayans to write their names in Japanese. The Japanese volunteers further showcased their culture by wearing kimonos, the traditional clothes of women in Japan. YSP volunteers were a clear highlight of the event and they were the center of attraction for children, youths and adults alike.
The event was successful as a result of the dedication and love of the Uruguayan society. YSP promised to sustain strong relationships with the people and to organize more activities in the future.
