Youth and Students for Peace in the United States held its first S!NERGY program. A committee reviewed emailed submissions and best two presentations were chosen to present live on December 20, at the Essex County College. A total of fifty-seven people attended the event, including three guest judges: Naokimi Ushiroda, National President of YSP; Lavita Johnson, of the People’s Assembly at the Newark Mayor’s Office; and Dr. Akil Khalfani, of Essex County College and the Africana Institute. First place was awarded to a high schooler from West Orange with a $500 cash prize.
