Youth and Students for Peace in the US held its first S!NERGY program. A committee reviewed emailed submissions and 2 top presentations were chosen to present live on Dec. 20 at the Essex County College. A total of 57 people attended the event, including 3 guest judges: Naokimi Ushiroda, National President of YSP; Lavita Johnson of the People’s Assembly at the Newark Mayor’s Office; and Dr. Akil Khalfani of Essex County College and the Africana Institute. First place went to a high schooler from West Orange with a $500 cash prize.
