Launching YSP #Cote d’Ivoire

On June 16, YSP was officially launched in Cote d’Ivoire. The event took place at the national library in Abidjan, under the theme, “The Role of Youth and Students in Building a Culture of Peace.” The inauguration ceremony was dedicated to inspiring future leaders who are responsible and committed to a strong nation, career development, marriage preparation, recognizing the family as a source of peace and security in the fight against early pregnancies.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including: UPF President of the Cote d’Ivoire chapter, Imame Drame Moussa; two Municipal Advisors of Attecoube, Consul of the Embassy of Liberia, Representative of the Mayor of the Plateau, Deputy Mayor of Port-Bouet, Peace Ambassadors, Leaders of Youth Organizations and Traditional Leaders. In total, two hundred people attended the event.

The ceremony commenced with the National Anthem of Cote d’Ivoire. This followed with a welcome address given by Assouan Chini, the Secretary General of YSP. A video was then shown, highlighting YSP activities at the national and international level. Afterwards, Mr. Brou Konan Jean Marie was appointed as the President of YSP Cote d’Ivoire and Ms. Assouan Chini as the Secretary-General.

In his speech as the newly appointed President, Mr. Brou Konan Jean Marie stressed the role of parents and educators in effectively raising youth. He explained that this role goes far beyond only sustaining them with intellectual knowledge.

He ended his remarks by explaining that to realize his/her hopes and dreams, a young person needs a loving family environment where true love can shape their conscience and heart.

Two Peace Ambassadors gave congratulatory messages and the closing remarks were given by the AKA Excellence Sponsor, Saye Lazard. He congratulated YSP members for the success of the launch and expressed hope that the youth will become truly responsible and committed leaders for a strong and emerging nation. The ceremony ended with the signing of a resolution, a group photo and finally a cocktail.
