Commemoration of the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation of Angola (Webinar)

YSP Angola held the Youth for Peace Forum to celebrate the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation of Angola on April 4.
Since 2002, this forum has been a medium through which the Day of Peace in Angola can be honoured. This day is significant because it was on this day that weapons and bombs that afflicted the people were officially silenced; resulting in the signing of the Complementary Memorandum of Understanding to the Lusaka Protocol between the Angolan Government and Unita.

The two main topics and reflections addressed during the webinar revolved around:
a) The challenges of young people in maintaining peace
b) How to plant peace in the hearts of people

The aim was to celebrate the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation of Angola, reflect on the role of young people in building a culture of peace and maintain the culture of the heart.
The opening address was given by Ambassador for Peace, Dr. José Carlos da Silva – who appealed to compassion, moderation, honesty, love, forgiveness, and unity.
We conclude that peace transcends the end of the war, and is concord, love, philanthropy – living for the cause of the other.
