African Youth Assembly #Congo

Under the program of IAYSP Africa Region, the Regional Assembly of young Africans was held online and in-person throughout the African territory commemorating the International Youth Day. It took part from the 12th to the 14th of August. With several activities: conferences, service projects for Peace, dance competitions, etc., under the theme: African Youth Engagement for Prosperity and Planetary Health.

   

With these programs, Congo Brazzaville Chapter mobilized more than one hundred eighty-five young people.

On August 12, in the city of Pointe-Noire, nearly thirty young people participated in the opening ceremony of the assembly. The same day, they participated in the project for peace held in the wild coast, where they collected all kinds of waste at the edge of the beach. Even though the public sanitation service have placed several dustbins on the beach, unfortunately, people always dispose of their garbage irresponsibly; so the participants set an example for others.

On August 13, they followed the assembly program online in the four cities of the country Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Dolisie, and Nkayi. In the fourth town of Nkayi, young people raised awareness about tree protection.

On the August 14, the last day of the assembly, there was a big conference in Nkayi with nearly one hundred ten young people. They received teachings on the vision and the mission of IAYSP, the Sustainable Development Goals, and juvenile life.

Youth gathered for the celebration of International Youth Day. Secretary-General Yannick Kasongo developed the principal theme, “African Youth Engagement for Prosperity and Planetary Health.” Leader Ferdinand Elenga closed the series of conferences with the theme, “Autonomous and Innovative Youth for the Achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.” The program drew to a close with a family photo and refreshment offered to all participants.

The celebration took part in the conference room in the Catholic Church of Nkayi, with the General-Secretary IAYSP, the Leader Yannick Kasongo accompanied by the student coordinator, and Leader Ferdinand Elenga.
