Youth Leadership and Educators Workshop #USA
Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) USA was invited to speak at a leadership workshop hosted by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) USA at 4 West 43rd St, New York, New York. The workshop was held for youth leaders and educators, and YSP spoke on the topic of character education and service to a delegation of twenty-five people from Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Guyana, and the Caribbean. All participants either had positions within their country’s education ministries, were leaders for countries and regions, or worked with UNESCO.
Naria Gaarder presented on YSP’s peace perspective of living for the sake of others, as the key and foundation for creating sustainable peace; and Naokimi Ushiroda presented on the Peace Designer program for putting together peace projects, and included breakout sessions and discussions with the delegation. Most of the delegates spoke French so a translator helped with translating the presentation content. Both presentations were aimed at introducing aspects and perspectives of peace and service that could be implemented in the education systems of the relevant countries of participating members.
