Leaders’ Connect Webinar Series (Philippines)
Last October 26th, IAYSP–Pilipinas hosted an online program on Mental Health to celebrate and raise awareness on the World Mental Health Day, celebrated on the same date. As the pressing issues of suicide and depression have been continuously increasing in the Philippines recently during this Global Pandemic times, it is indeed alarming to remind and teach our young people ways how to cope up with anxiety and depression.
With the theme, “Let’s Talk: Mental Health Matters,” the online program urges and reminds our young people that “it’s okay not to be okay” and that mental health is a fundamental aspect in life that we should give time to consider anytime.
There were distinguished speakers such as Dr. Shigehiro Suzuki, who is a Chief Director of Medical Corporation Shin-Ai-Kai from Japan as the main speaker. Also, Mr. Avelino Rivera from Manila Youth Development and Welfare Bureau, Hon. Dr. Candice Tupaz, a City Councilor in Iloilo City, and Mr. Kenneth Bermejo, a Guidance Advocate of the Sto. Tomas De Villanueva Parochial School, who are members of the panel. Indeed, it was an excellent and productive webinar.
Ms. Blessie Belle Ramos, a YSP Leader from La Union Province, moderated the online program.
