International Youth Day #Fiji
On August 12 2019, at USP Japanese Hall, Youth and Students for Peace and University of South Pacific Indo Fijian Association (USP ISA) hosted an event in celebration of the United Nations International Youth Day.
Honourable Alipate Nagata gave his opening remarks assured that the government will support youth activities and supports the United Nations with the theme, “Transformational Education.” Mr. Shaad Akbar, President of University of South Pacific Indo Fijian Association and newly appointed President of Youth and Student for Peace Fiji; presented welcoming remarks.
Mr. Yutaka Yamada of YSP Oceania, delivered his keynote speech. He read the official statement given by the United Nations General Secretary, Mr. Antonio Gutterez and shared the founder’s words – Mr. Sun Myung Moon and Mrs. Hak Ja Han Moon. Mr Santosh Neupane, UPF Leader in Fiji, highlighted the previous activities carried out by UPF and other affiliated organizations in the pacific region.
More than five hundred people participated in the event, including: Members of Parliament, Representative of Diplomatic Mission, Professors of the University of South Pacific, people in business, and social and political leaders of the country. There were sixteen performances displayed in the event, representative of fourteen pacific countries.
