Hyo Jeong Character Education: Youth and Students for Peace #Cambodia
On June 11, 2018 in Kampong Speu, Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) Cambodia partnered with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Cambodia and organized a one-day seminar on, “Hyo Jeong Character Education: Youth and Students for Peace.” There were six hundred forty high school students in participation and they set up clear guidelines for keeping purity as a life goal while preparing to enter university.
Rev. Chamroeun Sophal, the President of FFWPU Cambodia introduced the importance of preserving moral integrity in preparation for married life. Rev. Sophal asked all high school students to make a personal promise, the pure love pledge, to maintain their purity until they married.
The experience was beneficial for youth as the teaching on building happy families, as part of nation building, is not included in the school curriculum. Dr. Tang Kimsruy, Secretary-General of YSP Cambodia, introduced the relationship of keeping purity as an important life goal for the future. Kimsruy said that, “keeping purity and honoring parents are the key to achieving true happiness.”
The school principal recognized the importance of Hyo-Jeong Character Education, and requested YSP and FFWPU to return for further teaching.
