Favelinda Project #IAYSP Brazil 

In partnership with Jardim Itaoca, YSP São Paulo carried out a solidarity action with children from the outskirts of Capão Redondo – SP.

The main objective was to show children from the outskirts the importance of dreaming big, and the role they play in society. We showed an educational film—The Family of the Future—followed by an interactive quiz. The children were treated to popcorn and juice during the film, and whoever answered the quiz questions correctly won chocolate. At the end, they received a delicious pot cake.

Children from the outskirts live in another reality, with a totally different education. Furthermore, they imitate their parents, and perhaps due to their circumstances they may not be able to think positively into the future. Our intention with this activity was to show them that they are beyond what they imagine; giving them “courage” for advancing into the future.
