Estorya Ta: Mental Health Webinar Series Episode Three #Philippines

For the third time on March 7, 2021, the Youth and Students for Peace (YSP) Philippines at Misamis Occidental Chapter conducted a Mental Health Webinar Series titled, “Estorya Ta” through Zoom; discussing mental health and coping during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar series is held in conjunction with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Alora, Calamba, Oroquieta City, and Sincaban, Supreme Six Student Government Misamis Occidental National High School (MONHS), and Supreme Student Council of University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Oroquieta.

Ms. Maricon Soledad, a registered Psychometrician, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is a former Psychometrician at La Salle University-Integrated School. She is also a post-graduate student of a Master’s Degree in Psychology at Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan.

“It’s natural to feel stress, anxiety, grief, and worry during the COVID – 19 pandemic. You shouldn’t feel bad for feeling this way. What you are feeling is valid. Never dismiss anyone for how they feel, and especially during the hard times, we need more to be understanding and kind towards each other.”

said Ms. Soledad. She added that everyone is different in ways of approaching and viewing a situation.

she said and continued to tackle the different ways of coping in these challenging times. She also said that we have to take a break once in a while. According to her, we have to find and make time to unwind, perform the activities we enjoy, and take care of ourselves since life can always be stressful at times.

Mental Health is extremely important, especially to the youth nowadays, to guide the next generation. The youth of today are tasked with greater responsibility, and it gives them ample opportunities as well. The webinar aimed to educate people on how they could cope with the situation and stresses bought by the present health crisis.
