Peace Ambassadors Join UN Headquarters in New York for Discussion on Women’s Leadership and the SDGs

In March, the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women was held at the United Nations Headquarters, in New York. As a functional commission of ECOSOC, it focuses on defending the rights of women, promoting gender equality, and setting global standards in these areas. The annual session gathers representatives from UN Member States, civil society organizations, and UN agencies.

Representing IAYSP Brazil, Peace Ambassadors Giovana Sant Angelo (Head of the Innovation Lab) and Diego Moura (Electoral Judge at the Regional Court of Amapá and President of the Innovation Lab) participated in the parallel event “Beauty Will Save the World: Advancing the SDGs Through Women and Girls’ Leadership” sponsored by the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) and IAYSP USA.

The discussion focused on mental care, the psychological impact of displacement, and the importance of leadership opportunities for women and girls.

The participation of the Peace Ambassadors offered a valuable opportunity to engage with international spaces for dialogue, cooperation, and leadership. Experiencing the UN environment firsthand strengthened their commitment to values such as solidarity, respect, and social responsibility.
