Volunteers for Elders #Japan

On June 2 and 23, the YSP Japan Yamagata chapter held a project, “Volunteer for Elders” in Yamagata, Japan. Seventeen youth participated in this new project that youth and students prepared for helping elders who are experiencing physical difficulties due to ageing. An ageing society is one of the predominant problems in Japan. Therefore, the youth wanted to create strong relationships with the elders through the project. YSP Yamagata has created two groups that endeavour to provide assistance with household chores. June 2 was an unforgivingly hot day, but the youths’ spirit was undeterred. The elders greatly appreciated the young people’s initiative.
