Second Service Project for the Victims of Typhoons #Philippines
On November 21, 2020, the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace Philippines conducted a Service Project for Typhoon Ulysses victims in the Philippines at Brgy. Kasiglahan Village Elementary School, Rodriguez, Rizal. The project intended to establish four hundred families’ beneficiaries., together with the Universal Peace Federation and the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.
The Vice-Governor of Rizal, Hon. Jun Rey San Juan; and the Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman of barangay attended the service project – representing the youth sector.
Vice-Governor, Hon. Jun Rey San Juan delivered a message of hope and a new beginning to the typhoon victims. He affirmed for each family to remain strong together, as a means to surpassing this kind of challenge in their province.
The Chairman of IAYSP Philippines, Mr. Leo Angelo Halog, delivered a message of love and hope to the Founder of YSP, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. Halog emphasized the need for hope in order to actualize a better world and continue marching forward despite the current situation families have been confronting.
The Regional-President of IAYSP Asia Pacific 2, together with the Vice- Regional President, Rev. Ronnie Sodusta, engaged in the service project with more than twenty-five young people who volunteered.
The Food Feeding Program that followed was successful and provided for children residing in the evacuation center. The children displayed the epitome of the resilient spirit of the Filipino people even amidst the crisis that their country has been facing – indicating an undeniable truth that a smile can cause incredible change in an environment and atmosphere.
