International Youth Day, “Empowering Youth for Building a Nation of Peace” -IAYSP Nepal
On August 12, 2024, IAYSP Nepal combined efforts with the Lions Club of Kathmandu, Jhyarung Khasyor to celebrate International Youth Day at the Naxal Peace Embassy Building. The event drew the enthusiastic participation of 120 youth, with the program being graced by esteemed guests. The theme for the event, “Empowering Youth for Building a Nation of Peace,” aligned with the global focus on youth-driven sustainable development.
The day was divided into two insightful sessions. The first session centered on raising awareness among the youth, marked by the distribution of themed T-shirts as a symbol of unity and empowerment. The second session featured an interactive dialogue regarding the role of youth in fostering sustainable development and peace. Special Guest Mr. Birendra Shrestha delivered an impactful presentation highlighting the ongoing work and activities of IAYSP and inspired youth to assume active roles in societal development. Other distinguished speakers included: MD Lion Ananta Prasad Vetuwal PMJF, Hon. Milan Rajbanshi, and renowned singer Ananda Karki, who all shared motivational words, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in the nation’s progress with a positive moral alignment.
Furthermore, young enthusiastic leaders in attendance involved: Lion Ramesh Shrestha; Sita Subedi, Ms. Nepal International 2023; and Sajju Baba Malla, a social activist awarded by youth peace ambassadors promoting their influential acts.
The program was adeptly led by IAYSP Nepal President Dharmee Bhusal Kamana and was chaired by Lions Club of Kathmandu President, Jhyarung Khasyor. The event successfully reinforced the message that youth are not just the future, but an active and essential part of the present in building a peaceful and sustainable nation.
